BIM Coordination utilizes software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam and MEP Fabrication (to name a few) to reduce conflicts between different trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection). Traditionally, each of these trades attempt to work with one another in the field to establish the best locations for their equipment, piping or electrical systems. Unfortunately, this takes an incredible amount of time away from the installers and is not very efficient since they’re not able to plan the entire project all at once. What happens when BIM Coordination is involved, we establish routing, elevations and locations for the Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection, and HVAC prior to or during construction. This allows for planning and RFIs (Request for Information) to be submitted before they become costly mistakes in the field. Once coordinated, we then provide coordinated files to the contractors. Once approved, each trade will sign off and lock the files from further edits (unless it is needed, we can unlock these files for edits to solve additional issues that may arise). We then create detailed construction drawings to provide to the installers, giving them exact locations for all systems they’ll be installing. Installers can then rest assure every bolt, pipe and clearance area has been planned out and will not cause a problem later down the road.
This up-front planning allows for smooth and easy installation for each trade in the field. BIM Professionals specialize in planning for field installation, with years of experience both in the office and in the field. We understand how to save time and create the most cost efficient installations. Allowing for maximum profit and manageable costs throughout the project.
